'Go Spotty Day'

Hi Folks,

This Thursday we are planning on 'Going Spotty' to raise money and awareness of Melanoma.

This disease affects more the 4000 Kiwis every year.  Research has proven that early protection 'Slip, Slop, Slap and Wrap' is the best form of prevention... so by educating children at school and raising their understanding and awareness we are doing the best we can to prevent this disease.

Please come dressed on Thursday 27 March in 'Spotty Clothing' and bring a gold coin to donate to the foundation.  Be as creative as you can... there may be a 'spot prize' up for grabs!

ICT Fun!

A few weeks ago Room 12 spent the day with Mr McLay using iPad's to make 'Word Photos'.  They also learnt how to open apps, save and store documents and use to 'Dropbox'.  The children thoroughly enjoyed their day and produced some awesome posters.

Harold and the Life Education Caravan

The Life Education Caravan spent 3 weeks parked up on the Middle School court right outside Room 12's doors.  We as a class visited the caravan twice.  We learnt about being a VIP and how we can take care of ourselves and maintain a healthy body.  The children enjoyed it very much and loved learning that Harold has a 'girlfriend'...

Oh Yes!! In Room 12 we are full of 'Personality!'

A few weeks ago the children were asked to pack a bag of 'treasures' that reflected both their personality and their culture.  The children thoroughly enjoyed sharing their chosen items with the class and teacher.  It was a great opportunity for their peers to see who shares a common interest with them or a common culture.  It was a big deal for some of the class to brave, use a big voice and clearly explain what and why they brought along their items.  All of the children did a fabulous job.

Room 12 have really enjoyed swimming over the past 6 weeks of school.  

Although the seasons have changed, the weather so far in the afternoons has still been lovely and warm, definitely warm enough for those keen to whip on their togs and take a refreshing dip!
